For Immediate Release Rhoades Presents East End Fire Company with $10,000 GrantPALO ALTO– Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) today presented officials from the East End Fire Company #2 with a check for $10,000 for the purchase of updated safety equipment. The funding was awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Community Revitalization grant program. The program's primary goal is to help local governments, non-profit organizations and industrial development agencies work to improve their local communities, said Rhoades. "Pennsylvania's volunteer firefighters and emergency workers protect our homes and businesses, risking their lives every time they answer the call," said Rhoades. "Therefore we need to make sure they can afford the equipment necessary to fight fires and save lives." The fire company will purchase or repair basic fire fighting and rescue equipment, as well as upgrade fire fighting vehicles that are in need of repair. "The purpose of the Community Revitalization Program is to bring state tax dollars back to community groups that are committed to revitalizing Schuylkill County," said Rhoades. "I am pleased to award this grant that will help our community for many years to come." |
