Rhoades Announces PENNVEST Loan for Minersville Sewer Authority ImprovementsHARRISBURG -- Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) announced today that PENNVEST, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, has awarded a $4.1 million loan to the Minersville Sewer Authority. The funding will be used to install almost two miles of sanitary and storm sewer lines, replace 1,540 feet of water mains, and make other improvements that will eliminate a continuous discharge of untreated wastewater into the West Branch of the Schuylkill River. Rhoades said the 30-year loan, at a 1 percent interest rate, will save the Authority close to $94,000 annually compared to conventional market rate financing, or more than $2.8 million in savings over the life of the loan. "I'm pleased to announce this formal funding agreement, and I know that this project will go a long way toward making some very necessary improvements in the area's sewer system," Rhoades said. "It's important to our community as well as to the environment."
