Rhoades Presents West End Advanced Life Support with $10,000 Grant

MONROE COUNTY – Yesterday, Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) presented officials from the West End Advanced Life Support, Inc. with a check for $10,000 to upgrade emergency life support equipment.

The West End life Advanced Life Support provides emergency paramedic medical services the Townships of Polk, Eldred, Chestnuthill, Ross and part of Hamilton in Monroe County.

The funding was awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Community Revitalization grant program. The program's primary goal is to help local governments, non-profit organizations and industrial development agencies work to improve their local communities, said Rhoades.

"This funding will better equip the West End Advanced Life Support with state-of-the-art technology that will provide safer and more effective care for our citizens," said Rhoades. "I was more then pleased to help secure funding for this project."

The funding went towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art MedTronic Life Pak 12 defibrillator, complete with 12 lead technology, which will provide cutting edge pre-hospital cardiac care to the residents of the West End coverage area. To date, the device has been used to expedite the care of fourteen critical cardiac patients within the West End.

"The purpose of the Community Revitalization Program is to bring state tax dollars back to community groups that are committed to safeguarding the citizens of Monroe County," said Rhoades. "I am pleased to award this grant that will help our community for many years to come."
