Deadline for Fire, EMS Grant Program Approaching

Volunteer Companies Have Until February 28th to Apply For Funds

HARRISBURG -- Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) is urging local volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services (EMS) squads to apply for grants from the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program before the 4PM, February 28th application deadline.

The program will provide assistance to local fire companies and for volunteer ambulance crews.

Grants for volunteer fire companies will range from $2,500 to $15,000.  That money may be used for construction or renovation of a fire company facility, purchase or repair of firefighting or rescue equipment, training or debt reduction.

Volunteer ambulance services are eligible for grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000.  Those funds can be used for construction or renovation of the ambulance company's facilities, purchase or repair of ambulance equipment, office equipment and support services, training or debt reduction.

"I urge all of the local fire companies and ambulance services to apply for these grants," Senator Rhoades said.  "We owe a debt of gratitude to our volunteer firefighters and EMS crews. They provide a tremendous and invaluable service to our communities.  With these grants, we can show our support for their work."

For more information on the grant process or to apply for the grant on-line, local volunteers are urged to visit the office of State Fire Commissioner Website.
